Sustainability
Our quest to find an all natural fiber that simultaneously suited our aesthetic, stylistic, functional, and ability to weather the elements needs was no walk in the park. We tested prototypes made from organic cotton, hemp, and silk, and combinations of them all, but none were good enough. After researching and manually testing hundreds of fabric samples, we eventually found the one that we knew was perfect for our vision, TENCEL™.
TENCEL™ is a natural fiber made from sustainably sourced wood pulp, primarily from eucalyptus trees. Through an eco-friendly, closed-loop process, this pulp is transformed into a luxurious & versatile fabric. Wood pulp from the tree is extracted into a cellulose fiber and then transformed into the final product through a special spinning process. What makes Tencel™ so great?
Aside from its extensive health benefits, the process of growing and cultivating Tencel™ is incredibly Earth-friendly as well. Learn more about our sustainability practice as a whole at Solterra.
